Typographic Countdown

In the lead-up to the New Year FontShop has been ticking-off the days by highlighting a glyph every day on its blog. Each letterform comes with a short description on its origins.
For example, did you know that ‘H’ appears to have its earliest recorded origins in Egypt, where the character depicted a fence or wall? Or that ‘K’ represents a palm and spread fingers?

They are already on ‘z’ so I’d be interested what’s coming next over the final few days. Some numbers or ligatures?
